Ka 942 - Mainline Steam (Taumarunui - Te Rapa)

After watching Ka 942 depart for Hamilton, I was off South back the way I had come, this time bound for Featherston, but finally settling on Waikanae, due to deteriorating weather!
Ka 942 departs Taumarunui for Hamilton.

It is a real credit to all those involved with the overhaul of L's 507 & 509 for this significant event, a lot of long days were put in, and a by both groups, and in my honest opinion it was well worth it. Who in 1908, would have thought that in 100 years time, two Victorian engines both over 130 years old would be still in existence, and more importantly, in operational order.

Thank you to all those involved in making this remarkable event happen - it was well worth the effort!
