L 507 (Lined Black) & L 509 (Black) formerly NZR L class locomotives 207 & 219 respectively are believed to have been involved with the Parliamentary Special in 1908, they were brought together in their old stamping ground of the Central Plateau for a once in a life time event, the re-enactment of the 1908 Parliementary Special.

The L's hauled the 2008 Parliementary Special, from Horopito to Makatoke, and were assisted by Wab 794. This was spectacular sight, 2 victorian engines and mainline muscle all ont he head of a train, on the North Island Main Trunk!
