Tuesday, 27 October 2009: - The last train movement of the weekend saw Rm 56 depart from Middlemarch for Dunedin. At Pukerangi it met with the morning Taieri Gorge Ltd headed by DJ3286. A number of passengers from the TGL were booked on the railcar from Pukerangi for the run down to Dunedin. We drove into Hindon and waited, our first train was the returning TGL, and then the sole reason for trekking into Hindon, the Vulcan. Again the Vulcan looked so 'at home' in the gorge environment - I hope that it won't be another 33 years before a Vulcan is seen at home in Central Otago! Thanks must go to all those individuals and groups involved with the 5 days of rail activities in particular to the Taieri Gorge Railway for organising the event, Diesel Traction Group for providing Dg 772, Canterbury Railway Society for providing Rm 56 and carvan Af 863 and the Ocean Beach Railway for providing T 175, a cattle wagon & some of the jiggers. |
